Wireless Dog Fence vs GPS Fence: Which One Should You Stock?

Wireless Dog Fence vs GPS Fence: Which One Should You Stock?

We build both wireless/radar dog fences and GPS containment fences, so when a distributor asks which one to lead a range with, we have no axe to grind either way. They sound similar and solve the same problem — keep the dog inside a boundary without burying wire — but they define that boundary so differently that the right choice comes down to the yards your customers actually have. Here is the comparison we walk partners through.

How each draws the boundary

A wireless or radar fence sets the area from a base unit at the centre of the property, with the dog kept inside an adjustable radius — roughly 20 to 280 ft on our flagship series, with multi-dog and multi-boundary support. It is fast to set up and ideal for a defined yard around a home. A GPS fence works on a different principle entirely: it uses satellite positioning to enforce a boundary that can cover far more ground than a base station can reach, which is why we pair it with real-time location and out-of-bounds alerts. One is built for the yard; the other is built for wide-area outdoor watch.

Best-fit customer for each

If your end users are suburban homeowners with a normal lot, a wireless/radar fence is usually the cleaner sell: simple, contained, three-level beep/vibration/static correction, no fuss. If they have acreage, a rural property, or a dog that ranges well beyond a single yard, the GPS containment fence earns its place because the area a base unit can cover simply runs out. Many of our partners actually stock both and let the listing's coverage figures route the buyer to the right one, rather than forcing a single product to fit every yard.

What both share — and what we recommend

Crucially, both lines are no monthly fee, no subscription, so whichever a customer picks, there is no recurring bill to explain at checkout and total cost of ownership stays low. Both are built and tested to CE, FCC and RoHS standards, with our factory INTERTEK on-site audited and reports available on request. Both are available for OEM and ODM private label. If you are unsure which to anchor your range with, send us your target market and the typical property size your customers have, and we will recommend a mix and quote both with MOQ and lead time.
